Joye Brannon Spears, born in Oakdale on July 3, 1944, daughter of Murrel and Bessie Nellams Brannon, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024, at the age of 79.
Joye was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed traveling to Biloxi and going to restaurants with her sister, Myrtle. She loved listening to old country and rock-n-roll.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Ray “Arab” Spears; daughter, Sandra “Sissy” Spears; four brothers, and three sisters.
Joye is survived by her daughter, Jill Holland; sister, Myrtle Rider; six grandchildren, Sabre, Hannah, Kade, Laikyn, and Loni; 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Pastor Don Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and will resume Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m.
