Judy Ugland

Judy Ugland, 81, passed away on October 13, 2023 in a local hospital.

She was born on December 12, 1941 in New Orleans, LA to Mark Twain Moore, Jr. and Hazel Irene Smart Moore. Her pride and joy were her three daughters. She was a 1959 graduate of Leesville High School and was an active member of the Wampus Cats Pep Squad. She enjoyed crocheting and made blankets for many family members and friends. She also enjoyed listening to her happy music, which included oldies, gospel, and rock and roll, and bringing food and gifts to others. She taught her children about volunteering and helping those in need from a young age. She was an excellent cook who made the best chicken and dumplings.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Penny Seneca (Van), Holly Willis, and Sharon Chio (Raul); grandchildren, Tyler, Ana, and John; siblings, Melvin Moore (Neda) and Carol Bray (Nathan); and numerous nieces, nephews, other beloved family members, friends, and pets and was known as Grandma and Aunt Judy to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Mary Eloise Richards.

Her funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Johnny Dammon will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
