Julian Lee "Butch" Miller

September 22, 1949 — November 24, 2022

Julian “Butch” Miller, 73, of Hayes, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022 surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home.

Mr. Miller was born in Jennings and raised in Grand Chenier. He honorably and faithfully served in the United States Army in the 173rd Airborne Brigade as a paratrooper in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969, where he earned a Bronze Star for his service.  He remained in the Army reserve until 1973 and was a truck driver and mechanic for most of his working career. Mr. Miller whole heartly enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising his four daughters, teaching them things that guys can do!  He will be most remembered for his love of his daughters, his unique way of making each feel special, instilling in them the ability to be strong, independent women and for always being there.  He was of the Catholic Faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-eight years, Patsy Miller; parents, Frank and Ina Azena Swire Miller; sisters, Elizabeth “Tut-Tut” Theriot, Ethel “Patsy” Miller, Flora Mae “T-Teet” Conner and Louanna “Pelet” Guidry and one brother, John Miller.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory, his four daughters, Roxanne “Sandy” Miller of Lake Charles; Anna Lee Kemp (Marvin) of Moss Bluff;  Pamela Miller (Paul Bowers) of Hayes and Hope Miller Gilley (Jeremy) of Hayes; two brothers, Frank Miller, Jr. (Ann) of Moss Bluff and Joe Miller (Becky) of Moss Bluff; nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family of the heart.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 Monday, November 28, 2022 in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home.  Interment services will follow in Swire Cemetery in Ragley.  Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary service beginning at 6:00 PM.  Visitation Monday will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
