Julie Denise Desormeaux Alford, 61, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018, in a local hospital.
Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Duffy Joseph and Lois Maria Meyers Desormeaux, Mrs. Alford lived her life in Hackberry and was a 1975 graduate of Hackberry High School. She worked for the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service for twenty years, retiring October 31 of this year. She was an incredible cook and delighted in feeding friends and family after church on Sundays or at any other time. Mrs. Alford was a servant and enjoyed doing for others, always putting others before herself. She loved strawberries and roses.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are her husband of 34 years, Charles M. Alford; two sons, Eric Alford and wife Tiffany of Hackberry and Kevin Alford and wife Savannah Landry-Alford of Lake Charles; two brothers, Brian Desormeaux, also of Hackberry, and Gary Desormeaux of Cibolo, Texas; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters-in-law, Ernie Kaye Desormeaux, Linda Dalgleish and Cheryl Desormeaux.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Hackberry under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Brother Monte Rowse will officiate. Interment will be at New Hackberry Community Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. and will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. until service time.
The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the gentle and compassionate care given their beloved wife, mother, and sister to Dr. Michael Broussard and the nurses and staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Oncology Department.
