Julius Carl Thompson, Jr., born in Lake Charles on April 21, 1947, son of Julius and Carrie Marie (Fusilier) Thompson, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the age of 76 at Christus Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles.
Born and raised in Lake Charles, JC spent his life in Louisiana, Colorado, and Brazil, residing in Lake Charles for the last 17 years. JC was a graduate of McNeese State University with a degree in Agronomy. He faithfully served in the U. S. Navy stationed in Spain during the Vietnam War. JC explored many occupations throughout his life including health sanitarian, bar owner and commercial seafood importer.
JC loved animals and being outdoors. He was a cowboy at heart and loved everything about horses, raising them and riding them. Throughout his life he raised an assortment of farm animals and enjoyed fishing and rabbit hunting with his beagles.
Julius is survived by his sons, Guy Thompson (Tina), Jean Piere Thompson (Ana), Gabreal Francois Thompson (Monica); daughters, Regina Guidry Miller (Ross), Monique Gomes Thompson; grandchildren Natalie Thompson Meaux (Bailey), Alaina Thompson, Logan Thompson, and Benoit Orosco Thompson and one great grandchild, Jensen Meaux;
sister, Mary Ann Kohnke; sister-in-law, Selma Thompson and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Carrie Marie (Fusilier) Thompson; brother, Paul Thompson; son, Ted Howard Thompson; nephew, Frank Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church in Lake Charles on Sunday October 1st, 2023. A rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. with services immediately following at 3 p.m. Inurnment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Topsy. Cremation was under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
