Karen Colletta Rosfeld

February 1, 1944 — November 18, 2017

Karen Louise Colletta Rosfeld, 73, peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017, in her home surrounded by family.

Karen was born on February 1, 1944 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She married Rick Rosfeld, the love of her life, on December 12, 1963. Together they raised one son, her greatest joy, Chad Rosfeld. She was a dedicated wife, mother, “sister” and grandmother. She retired from South Central Bell after many years of service. She was active in various charities, including the Children’s Miracle Network, Telephone Company Pioneers, and she was a supporter of St. Jude and M.D. Anderson Cancer Research. She loved helping others, life, and the color purple. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and fishing with Bob and Hazel Rosfeld. She and Rick, along with their traveling buddies, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Raymond and Dolly Rosfeld Noel, traveled the world. They cruised the Atlantic, Caribbean and Mediterrean Coasts, and France with lots of laughs, making many memories. One of her favorite places to visit was Italy. She was an avid collector of Pati Bannister paintings and always enjoyed crocheting.

Mrs. Rosfeld was actively involved in the lives of her many nieces and nephews. She loved being with people and brought joy and happiness wherever she went. Some of her happiest times were preparing lasagna for her son Chad’s birthday each year. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren, Laci, Tala, Austin, Baylee, and Caitlyn participate in sports and other activities. Many fun times were spent chasing frogs with her grandson Kase. One of her proudest moments was attending the induction of her granddaughter, Laci, into the U.S. Marine Corps. Many fun memories were made vacationing in the Colorado Mountains with her siblings, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, pool parties, and family gatherings.

Her sweet, fun-loving spirit, laughter and smile will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 54 years, Richard Arlen “Rick” Rosfeld; son, Richard “Chad” Rosfeld and Rebecca of Ragley; one brother, Michael Colletta and wife Charlene of Moss Bluff; sisters, Marcia Carlson and husband Paul, Marlene Bourgeois and husband David, Kathy Smith and husband Steve, and Dianna Pousson and husband Paul, all of Lake Charles; sister-in-law, Dolly Noel and husband Raymond of College Station, TX; brother-in-law, Bob Rosfeld and wife Hazel of Ragley; six grandchildren, Laci, Austin, Baylee, Tala, Kaitlyn and Kase, twenty- three nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mickey and Marjorie (Sammie) Colletta.

Mrs. Rosfeld’s funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. A rosary Monday will be begin at 5:00 PM to be followed by visitation until 9:00 PM and will continue Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of service in the funeral home.
