Karen Ogea Theriot of LeBleu Settlement was called home by our Lord following her courageous battle with pancretic cancer.
She was born on August 6, 1959 in Lake Charles. She was the baby of five children to the late Frank and Ola (LeBleu) Ogea.
Karen's love of family started as a child and she grew up learning that your biggest strength is your faith, but also family. She was a graduate of Iowa High School in Iowa, Louisiana and was ultimatly employed with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, Employment and Training Division where she retired after thirty-six years and seven months.
Karen met her husband Mark and his two sons and it was true love. Our Lord knew she would need some babies so he sent them to her because she could not have any of her own. The family was joined together on April 4, 1987 and this was what kept her going. She loved her boys more than any words could ever show.
Karen was a wife, mother, Nana, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her babies which included children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, by her parents, Frank and Ola LeBleu Ogea, her sisters, Diana Ogea Conner and Jean Ogea Selph, and her nephew/godson, Christopher Selph.
She is survived by her husband Mark Theriot of thirty-eight; her boys, Mark, Jr. (Erika) and Eric (Betsy); her grandchildren, Bryce, Dylan, Ellyana, Eden, Scotlynn, Treysen, Jovanni, and her great-granddaughter, Myla Grace; her sister, Vickie Ogea Fontenot (Carl Leger); her brother, Mike Ogea (Tracy); her nieces, nephews, all her in-laws, cousins, and friends. Especially Ms. Barbara Goodley whom she thought of as another sister. She and Barbara were friends for more than forty years.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 10 a.m. in Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. Burial will follow in LeBleu Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday November, 17, 2025 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary resisted at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m. until the time of service.
