Katherine Doucette Bruner

November 17, 1935 — May 29, 2021

Katherine Marie Doucette Bruner, 85 of Hackberry, LA passed away peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by her family on May 29, 2021. She was born on November 17th, 1935, in Westlake, LA to Vivian Richard Doucette and Alton Doucette, Sr.  She met her loving husband of 65 years, Harold Bruner, while he was stationed at Chenault Air Force Base in Lake Charles, LA.  He promised her, if she traveled with him while he was in the service, he would bring her home to Louisiana when he retired.  He kept his word and they moved to Hackberry, LA in 1974, making it their forever home.  She was a homemaker and dedicated her life to raising her family.  She was a long-time member and worshiped at the Hackberry United Methodist Church. She had a talent and joy for cooking and baking and loved to do all types of crafts, which she excelled at.  She had a beautiful voice and was always singing and dancing in the kitchen.

 She is survived by her husband, Harold and their three children: Craig Bruner of Ragley, LA, Donna Bruner Aucoin of Carlyss, LA and Gary Bruner and wife Anna of Hackberry, LA.  Sister Pasty Touchet and partner Darrell Bertrand of Westlake and brother, Alton (Junior) Doucette, Jr., and wife Glenda of Palestine TX.  She loved and cherished her grandchildren:  Brad Hinton (Tiffany Ancelet), Lindy Babaz (James Blake, Jr.), Jana Hebert (Adam Hebert), Megan Whatman (Russell Whatman), Jason Bellard (Shawnna Stanley).  Great-grandchildren:  Seth Hinton, Swayze Hinton, Whitney Babaz, Reese Babaz, Kaylee Hebert Houghton, Harley Hebert, Sydney Whatman, Rubie Bellard, Purity Bellard, Truth Bellard, Noble Bellard, Mylee Lejeune, Ayden Lejeune, James Blake III, Hunter Blake, and Autumn Menard.  Foster great grandchildren: Jerome, Sophie, Callie, Ryker and Jerrell, numerous nieces, and nephews.  She was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great-great grandchild.  She was proceeded in death by her sisters, Billie Doucette Collins, and Myrtle Doucette Leger, brothers, James (Jimmy) Doucette, Charles (Buddy) Doucette and great-granddaughter, Kodi Paige Hebert. 

 A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur LA.  Rev Leon Boggs will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hackberry Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 8:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.
