Kathrine Micelle, 77, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026. A lifelong resident of this community, Kathrine was born on January 17, 1949, in Lake Charles to Morris and Audrey Fontenot Micelle.
Kathrine was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and a proud member of the Lake Charles High School Kilties. She carried that same pride and dedication throughout her life. For many years, she faithfully served as a bookkeeper for the law firm of Salter, Street and Hale, where she worked for 15 years. She later continued her career with the law firm of Plauche, Smith and Nieset, retiring at the age of 65. Known for her diligence and integrity, Kathrine approached her work with quiet commitment and care.
Outside of her career, Kathrine found joy in life's simple blessings. She enjoyed reading, tending to her garden, and lovingly making rosaries by hand. Her faith was the foundation of her life. As a faithful member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Lake Charles, she volunteered in many capacities, serving her parish family with generosity and devotion.
Above all, Kathrine treasured her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Chris Sweezy and Johnnie Sweezy; her brother, Tony Micelle (Michelle); her sisters, Lynette Billedeaux (E.J.) and Lauren Babineaux; her grandchildren, Tori Friesner (Evan), and Christian Sweezy (Lauren); and her great-grandchildren, Holden, Penelope, and Roman. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service celebrating Kathrine's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 20, 2026, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, 4321 Lake Street, with Rev. Levi Thompson presiding. Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
Kathrine will be remembered for her steady faith, her love for her family, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. May she now rest in the peace of Christ, reunited with those who have gone before her.
