Kathrine Prater

Kathrine Brown Prater, 93, passed away peacefully Friday, August 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 22, 1931, to Myrtle and Jesse “Jake” James Brown.

Kathrine was devoted to her family and cherished spending quality time with them. She had a love for reading and enjoyed traveling the country with her husband in their RV, attending RV rallies along the way. A talented crafter, Kathrine expressed her creativity through various arts and crafts. She took great pride in maintaining an immaculate yard filled with exotic plants collected during her travels. Above all, she was a devoted Christian woman whose faith and example deeply touched the lives of her family and all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Cynthia Prater, Patricia Chenevert and husband William "Bill", Shayne Kasselman, Sherri Moore and husband Gary, Dannel Hazelton and husband Dan; grandchildren Kezia, Katie, Christopher and wife Dayna, Joshua and wife Dora, Bethany, Courtney, Matthew, Jonathan, Kassie and husband Monty, Austin, David, Emilee; great- grandchildren Sawyer, Savannah, Finn, Everly, Aspen and Jackson.

She is preceded in passing by her husband of 34 years, Daniel Prater; siblings E.J. Brown, Kenneth Brown, Evelyn May and Hubie "Butch" Brown; her fur baby companion of 17 years, Jole Le Blanc.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11:00am at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 5:00pm till 7:00pm and resume Thursday from 10:00am till time of service. Burial will take place at Consolata Cemetery.
