Kathryn (Jeannette) Mcdonald Hartley

December 29, 1939 — May 18, 2021

Born in 1939, Kathryn (Jeannette) McDonald Hartley passed from this life on Tuesday, May 18th to everlasting life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Residing on Vine Street since 1963, she and her husband, Bill Hartley, raised five children, 16 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Jeannette’s life has been one of devotion, compassion, love and sacrifice for not only her immediate family but for dozens of people within her community as well as the church communities she participated within during her lifetime. She, literally, never met a stranger and took less fortunate children into her home. She exemplified a life of love and care toward others.

At the age of 81, she continued as New Destiny Church secretary, attesting to her tireless energy and her deep faith. In the course of her life, Jeanette gave to everyone who crossed her path—gave of herself, her means, her large-hearted sense of compassion. Her children rise up and call her “Blessed” as she exemplifies the Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31: She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

Jeannette is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bill Hartley, her children, Aprile Hartley Morgan, June Hartley Miles, John Hartley, William Hartley, and Matthew Hartley as well as her brother, Louis McDonald and sister, Mary Orsak. She will be sorely missed, not only by her family but by the community she served with her overwhelmingly generous heart.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until the time of services at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Pastor James Kressman will officiate services. Cremation will follow services.

The family especially appreciates the compassionate service of Dr. Landry, Avail Hospital and Heart of Hospice, whose support during this time has been timely and necessary.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Destiny Assembly of God Church of Sulphur, LA.
