Kaylee Kohler Hathaway, 40, passed away in her home on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Born on December 26, 1985, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, she was the beloved daughter of Karl Fredrick Kohler and Michelle Hebert.
A 2004 graduate of LaGrange High School, Kaylee excelled as a softball player, known for her determination, toughness, and competitive spirit. As an accomplished softball player, she earned All-District honors and the admiration of teammates and coaches alike. Kaylee proudly wore jersey number 6 during her playing days, a cherished tradition that has been carried on by her daughters. Today, her youngest daughter Halle continues that legacy by wearing number 6 on the softball field. Kaylee developed a lifelong love for the game that extended far beyond her years on the field.
Softball remained one of Kaylee’s greatest passions throughout her life and, following in her father’s footsteps, she dedicated many years to coaching softball where she found great joy in mentoring young athletes. She was passionate about building confidence in young girls, teaching valuable life lessons, and encouraging them both on and off the field. Throughout her coaching journey, her husband Adam stood faithfully by her side as both partner and assistant coach.
Above all, Kaylee treasured her family, found joy in raising her girls, and was a devoted wife. She found happiness and great joy in caring for those she loved most. Her whole life she had a love for animals, especially for her “her world” Marley, her beloved dog of 15 years. She loved cooking and was especially known for her delicious recipes. She had a gift for gardening and took pride in nurturing her flowers. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed reading to her children, her Bible, and novels by John Grisham. She was passionate about music, crafting, and candle making. Kaylee was strong in her faith and devoted to her Heavenly Father Jehovah.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 19 years, Adam Hathaway; her daughters, Jenna Hathaway, Kate Hathaway, and Halle Hathaway; her father, Karl Fredrick Kohler and wife, Sheila; her sister, Kimberly Kohler Farris and husband, Dustin; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Michelle Hebert, her brother, Dustin Merriett, and MawMaw, Olga Spillman.
A celebration of Kaylee’s life will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, Kaylee will be laid to rest at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.
Kaylee’s unwavering love for her family, her dedication to the game of softball, the young athletes she mentored, and the countless lives she touched will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
