Leamon Keith Sweat, 70, of Sulphur, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in his home on February 11, 2026. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who will be deeply missed.
On Valentine’s Day of 1955, Leamon and Zell Sweat welcomed their first bundle of joy Leamon Keith Sweat into the world. As the eldest of 5, Keith would take on the role of a protector, who always looked out for his siblings. He always strived to lead by example, especially in the sport of baseball. He set the bar high when it came to success on the baseball field, playing the position of a catcher on the Pitkin “Pine Knots.” This would begin a journey that would lead to a legacy and love of the game of baseball. This tradition continued through his brothers, kids, and nephews.
To some it was just a game, but to him it was part of who he was. He was a competitor at heart, and always willing to do whatever it took to get the win.
Keith was a Pitkin Tiger at heart. He was a true fan that bled “blue” and “white.” Every time he would get a chance to watch his family play, he was always there smiling and coaching from the stands, along with his two brothers. He was always “extra” happy to see Pitkin play in Sulphur at the State Championship Tournament. The love of baseball and family tradition are evident on the gym walls of Pitkin High School, where his brothers, sons, and nephews’ names are proudly displayed on 12 State Championship banners.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years Tammy LeJeune Sweat; sons, Jason Sweat, Damian Sweat, and Dustin Sweat; Step-son, Pierre Malus; step-daughters Mindi Malus, and Maureen Bertrand (Jeff); brothers Joey (Shirley) and Alvin Sweat (Catherine); sisters Carol Sweat and Yolanda Johnson (Ricky); 13 grandchildren and13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Debbie Sweat.
A special thanks to the Heart of Hospice, Cindy Bass, and Brittany Pitre for their love, support, and continued care for Keith.
