Kendall Scott Smith

Kendall Scott Smith, 62, peacefully passed away at his residence on Monday, May 27, 2019.

He was born in Lake Charles, LA on March 4, 1957 to Glenn and Ruth Smith.  After graduating from Barbe High School in 1975, he attended McNeese State University and later became an electrician. He was a member of the IBEW Local #861. As a young boy, he was active in little league baseball and later had the pleasure of coaching both of his sons’ little league teams. Scott’s greatest passion, besides family, was for animals of all kinds and he rescued many a stray during his lifetime.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of twenty-two years, Latricia McMillen; his three children, Jessica Smith Melerine (Ray), Jason Scott Smith, and Jonathan Kendall Smith; stepdaughter, Carol Sackville-West (Tom); grandchildren, Ray, Annabelle, Jackson, Avery, and Joseph Melerine, and Jackson Sackville-West; siblings, Kaye Smith Landry (Charlie), Francis “Gary” Smith (Julie), and Lisa Smith Verrette (Dennis); brother-in-law, Robert Shows; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Glenda Smith Shows; niece, Anne Shows; and nephews, Patrick Smith and Jeff Landry.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Lake City Baptist Church off Holly Hill Road. Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 PM until the start of the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to an animal shelter of your choice in honor of Scott’s memory.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Christi Jeffels of Heart of Hospice and Dr. Alan LeBato for their compassion and care.
