Kenneth Fletcher Jr., 84, of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, passed away on November 4, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on April 1, 1942, to Kenneth Fletcher, Sr., and Ruby Fletcher.
On August 17, 1961, Kenneth married the love of his life, Gwen. Through 65 years of marriage, he remained hopelessly devoted to her and the family they built together.
Kenneth was a strong, determined man with a tender heart and hands that rarely rested. He could fix or build almost anything, and there was always another project waiting—or one he would soon find. Hard work was a way of life for Kenneth, and putting his time, strength, and skills to work for family and friends was one of the many ways he showed his love.
He worked for PPG Industries for 20 years before opening an automotive repair and quick-lube business. Kenneth was a private pilot for more than 40 years and had a lifelong passion for flying and all things aviation. That passion made his retirement job as an equipment operator at Chennault Airport especially meaningful. He loved going to work, took great pride in “his” FOD vacuum truck, and treasured the friendships he formed there, especially with the coffee crew.
Kenneth also loved cooking and generously shared that gift, preparing meals for family gatherings, his grandson’s football team, and many others through the years.
Above all, he loved his family. His grandchildren were among his greatest sources of joy in his later years, and he shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
We find comfort in the promise of eternal life and in knowing he is in the presence of our Lord and Savior, reunited with his cherished grandson, Nicholas. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Fletcher, Sr., and Ruby Fletcher; his mother-in-law, Vernice Cole; his father-in-law, Emerson Cole; and his nephew, Layne Richard.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Gwendolyn Cole Fletcher; his sons, Ken Fletcher (Lezlie) and Troy Fletcher (Laura); his grandchildren, Emily Fletcher, Lucy Fletcher, and Emerson Fletcher; and his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
