Kenneth Ray Doucet, 71, died on January 24, 2017 at the Grand Cove Nursing Home following a brief illness.

He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Ruth (Broussard) Doucet; his daughter, Danna Doucet Hastings and her fiancé Blaine Doucet; his son, Teryon Scott Doucet and his wife Julie; six brothers, Aaron Doucet and his wife Genella, Robert Doucet and his wife Harriet (deceased), Harold Doucet, Sr. and his wife Susan, Henry Doucet and his wife Jan, Kirby Doucet, and Leonard Doucet and his wife Becky; a sister, Mary Jane Rushing; four grandchildren, Jordan Hastings, Regan Hastings, Emilee Gutierrez, and Josh Gutierrez; one great grandchild, Noah Williams; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The son of Hopson and Mavis Doucet, Kenny was born and raised in Evangeline, LA and graduated from Iota High School in 1963. He married Ruth in 1965 and eventually went to work as an operator at Olin Chemical in Lake Charles, where he retired. He lived most of his adult life first in Iowa, LA and then in Lake Charles.

Kenny loved being outdoors, whether it was fishing or hunting or cutting grass or barbequing for his family at his Big Lake camp. In his later years, Kenny’s passion was to be on the water, cast netting for shrimp or crabbing with his children and grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered for barbequing on two pits at once while hosting his family at Big Lake on holidays.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lake Charles on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11am. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. The Very Reverend Anthony Fontenot will officiate. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, January 26 at 5pm until 9pm and will continue at the funeral home at 9am until 10:30am on Friday. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30pm on Thursday during visitation.
