Kevin Eugene King

November 10, 1977 — February 21, 2026

Kevin Eugene King, 48, of Moss Bluff, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026.

Kevin was a native of Moss Bluff. A graduate of Sam Houston High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after graduation. So determined to serve that he entered younger than most and had to get his mother’s permission. He served his country as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate with Patrol Squadron 40, the “Fighting Marlins,” including duty in Misawa, Japan.

Rising to the rank of Second Class Petty Officer, Kevin was recognized for his exceptional technical skill, leadership, and attention to detail. His commanding officer noted that his professionalism and devotion to duty reflected the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. Kevin remained a proud patriot throughout his life, carrying the strength and discipline of his service into everything he did.

Following his time in the Navy, Kevin dedicated nearly 20 years to O’Reilly Auto Parts as a Commercial Sales Specialist. He was known for his reliability, integrity, and willingness to help anyone who needed it.

Kevin had a deep love for the outdoors and simple, honest work. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing in Washington, tending his vegetable garden, and exploring new hobbies; from making coin rings (which he made his wedding rings out of antique Japanese yen coins) to most recently trying his hand at gold panning. He preferred fresh vegetables and found satisfaction in growing his own food.

In the kitchen, Kevin’s Cajun roots came alive. The first meal he ever prepared for his wife, Kim, was étouffée. He loved a well-seasoned steak cooked medium rare and was known for his macaroni salad for the holidays. He was always experimenting with new recipes and flavors and had begun compiling a cookbook of his creations. For Kevin, cooking was a way to care for others and he always enjoyed watching people take the first bite of his food.

Generosity defined Kevin; he was humble to his core and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need without hesitation. He never sought recognition and often downplayed his accomplishments, but those who knew him understood the depth of his character.

Above all, Kevin will be remembered for his deep and abiding love for his wife, Kim. Their life together was built on laughter and partnership. His steady presence was her anchor.

He leaves to honor his memory his beloved wife, Kim King; mother, Patricia King; brother, L.T. King and wife Kelli; niece, Emma King; extended family; and longtime friends Jeremiah Mathieu and Eloie Guidry.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard King, and brother, Gerald King.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, February 27, 2026, in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. The Rev. David Rose will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to your local food bank.
