Khristina Kibodeaux Guillory, age 59, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, surrounded by those she loved most.
Khristine, as we called her, was born on November 5, 1963 to Billy and Beverly Kibodeaux in Lake Charles. Before graduating from LaGrange High School, she was an avid barrel racer—a fact not many knew about her.
Upon first sight, Russell Guillory fell in love with our beloved, lively (sometimes sassy) red head. He and Khristine were married on July 31, 1982, and shortly thereafter welcomed their three children, who were her absolute pride and joy. She delighted in spending as much time with them as she could; whether by volunteering for PTO at their school or directing sporting events with Ward 2 Recreation. Her smile was always brightest when she spoke of her children.
Khristine embodied the phrase “life of the party.” Quick wit, a dose of sarcasm and a good laugh accompanied her to every gathering. She was an exceptional cook and always prepared enough to feed an army. With that gift, she often catered events for close friends and family. Khristine was compassionate beyond compare. She was first to help anyone in need and she could almost never refuse to aid a stray animal.
Waiting to receive her in heaven is her paternal grandmother, Dorothy (Dot) Hebert. Khristine was certain the cardinals that frequented her backyard were quick visits from Dot. Her maternal grandmother, Georgia Richard also waits to greet her. She is also reunited in heaven with a Marine whom she treasured like a son of her own, Corporal Richard (Ricky) Schoener, who fought and died during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2005.
Khristine is survived by her parents, Billy and Beverly Kibodeaux; her “Sissy,” Sandra Kibodeaux; an aunt, Donna Serice; an uncle, Michael Hebert; her beloved husband of 40 years, Russell Guillory; her three children, son Dustin (Candace) Guillory; son Dillan (Kayla) Guillory; daughter Jaimee Guillory; 6 grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as Mee-maw (or maw): Emma & Addison, Brylin, Brantley & Brixton, and Ryker; and one of her most loyal fur companions—Mickey—a dog she rescued from the brink of death who rarely left her side.
Visitation will be on Monday January 16, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation continues from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday January 17 with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Father Levi Thompson serving as officiant. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park.
She leaves behind a legacy of limitless love, generosity, and compassion that her family will strive to carry in her honor for generations to come.
