Kittie Richard

Kittie Richard, 84 of Lake Charles, LA died November 7, 2016 in her residence.

Kittie was born on May 15, 1932 in Birmingham, AL to James and Onvy Glass. She was a member of the American Legion, past commander of VFW in Cameron, LA and a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League and many other organizations. Kittie was a brownie troop leader, realtor, and a notary public. She and her husband had John’s Bar and Café in Grand Chenier, LA. Later she moved to Lake Charles and opened Miss Kitties Long Branch where she touched the lives of all her babies.

Those left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, John M. Richard; four children, Armand Richard and wife Wendy of Fenton, LA, Lynn LaBove of Westlake, LA, Diane Benton and husband Clay of Lake Charles, Kathy Abshire and Ronnie of Abbeville, LA; two brothers, James Glass and wife Kathy, John Glass and wife Elizabeth; sisters, Carolyn McArthur and Ricky Bergeron (Mike) and Jane Schulz;  fifteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren ; niece and nephew, Cynthia Fontenot and Wayne Toothman; and special son, Billy Delaney and wife Denise.

She is preceded in death by one great grandson, Damian Michael Abshire; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Glass and Billie Faye Glass Toothman.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 8:00 AM until time of service Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Joy Comeaux will officiate services.

In lieu of flowers buy a pair of shoes for a child in need in her memory.
