Laquita Faye Vawter Nunn

June 8, 1935 — June 30, 2017

LaQuita Faye Vawter Nunn, 82, of San Antonio, TX passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 in the comfort of her home.

 

Mrs. Nunn was born in Douglass, TX and lived most of her life in El Paso and Wichita Falls and the last thirty-eight years in San Antonio, TX. She was a graduate of Marion High School. As she followed her husband’s military career to many new places, they developed an overwhelming love and devotion to one another and their family, a unity that lasted a lifetime. Mrs. Nunn dedicated her life and her love to her family. She was a beautiful seamstress, making her children’s cloths and her daughter’s wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She was also a talented cook who will be well remembered for her desserts, especially her cream puffs. Mrs. Nunn enjoyed working word search and cross word puzzles, playing bingo and gambling.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of sixty-four years, Philip Delano Nunn of San Antonio, TX; four children, Philip Delano Nunn, Jr. and wife Norma of Abilene, TX, Karen Reneé Nunn Creswell of Houston, TX, Sharon Denise Klein and husband David of San Lorenzo, CA and Randell Nunn of San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Herman Vawter and wife Irma and three sisters, Gwen Stutes, Judy Vawter Deshotel and husband Paul and Shirley Ellender and husband Paul.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Vawter and Annie Sandlin Vawter; a sister, Ouida Rogers Flores and a son, Richard “Ricky” A. Nunn.

 

Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Sunday, July 02, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Glenn George will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Saturday will be from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Sunday from 11:30 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
