Larry Jennings Carroll

February 14, 1948 — August 24, 2025

Larry Carroll was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a fierce protector of the family he cherished above all else. A lifelong musician, Larry’s passion for music was evident in everything he did. He skillfully played the bass guitar, acoustic guitar, trombone, and piano, and he was well known as the face of Larry’s DJ & Karaoke. Over the years, he shared his love for performing as a member of multiple bands, including Southern Pride, Blast from the Past, Desperados, and many others. His powerful singing voice was one of his greatest gifts, one he lovingly passed down to his daughter.

In addition to his music, Larry was a hardworking businessman who owned and operated Larry’s Auto Service for many years. With unmatched mechanical skill, he could fix anything and proudly shared that knowledge with his sons and grandsons. A lover of classic cars, Larry owned a 1954 Pontiac Chieftain.

When not working or making music, Larry found peace at his camp on the Sabine River, where he enjoyed spending time surrounded by family. Above all, he lived for his wife, children, and grandchildren, providing them with a home filled with protection, love, laughter, and music. Larry Carroll’s legacy is one of devotion, talent, and generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his music, wisdom, and love will continue to echo through the lives of those he touched.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Florence Carroll. His brother and lifelong friend, Ronnie (Nona) Carroll. His three children, Troy (Carrie) Carroll, Shannon (Darla) Carroll, and Rachel (Travis) Carroll. His nephew Kirk (Kendra) Carroll. His many grandchildren: Justin (Toni) Chargois, Austin (Kristen) Carroll, Malarie (Colby) Landry, Jordan (Kirsten) Chargois, Logan (Courtney) Richard, Ryan (Harlee) Carroll, Cameron (Jordon) Chargois, Cole (Coleigh) Chargois, Kaitlyn (Kyle) Chargois, and Jorden Trahan. Lastly, his precious great-grandchildren: Conner, Lucy, Dallas, Luke, Hayes, Cleo, Briggs, Myles, Ezra, Cooper, Jett, Heidi, Tillie, and Albus. He is preceded in death by his niece, Jennifer Carroll, and his loving parents, Walter and Helen Carroll.

The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice and Dr. Jason Fuqua, along with Dr. Turner and Anna Landry. Selina Brock for helping care for Larry in his last few weeks of life. Lastly, a huge thank you to Carolyn Waters for all the support and love through everything.
