Larry Eagleson

July 10, 1940 — April 22, 2017

Larry Eagleson, 76, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 in the comfort of his home, with his loving family at his side.

 

Born in Lake Charles to Claude and Hortense Conner Eagleson, Larry lived most of his life in Grand Lake. He was a farmer for twenty years, and then worked for fifteen years for the Cameron Parish Police Jury as foreman of road construction, retiring in 2004. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Roberta, Shirley and Audrey.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his faithful wife of fifty-four years, Peggy Gilmore Eagleson; four sons, Brian Eagleson (Kim) of Grand Lake, Randall Eagleson (Judy) of Lawrenceville, GA, Keith Eagleson (Kara), also of Grand Lake, and Charles Eagleson (Norma) of San Antonio, TX; one daughter, Sherry Paquette (David) of Lake Charles; three sisters, Yvonne Mier (Wendell) and Margaret Saltzman (Floyd), all of Grand Lake, and Karen Eagleson of Lafourche, LA; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday April 25, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Interment will follow in Grand Lake Community Cemetery. Visitation Monday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.

 

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given to Larry to Luke and Daniel Eagleson, Harbor Hospice and all those who prayed for them.
