Iowa –Larry Fontenot, 66, passed away in a Houston hospital surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 24, 2017.

Born in Kinder on June 17, 1951, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Anna Mae (Molitor) Fontenot. Larry was a graduate of LaGrange High, class of 1969. Larry was a long-time employee of FedEx, retiring after 27 years. Along with his wife Kathy, he owned and operated Fontenot Business Services in Iowa. He was instrumental in helping form the Iowa Police Reserves, where he served as Captain. Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was always there for a friend or family member in need.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy Fontenot; children, Joshua Fontenot (Jessica), of Iowa, Jessica F. Polito (Stephen) of Lake Charles and Julie F. Broussard (Aaron) of The Woodlands, Texas; siblings, Roger Fontenot (Kim) of Lake Arthur, Patsy Abshire of Lake Charles, Eva Dupuy (James) of Gillis, and Mark Fontenot (Pat) of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Stephen, Isabella and Elizabeth Polito, Aubrey and Brielle Broussard; step grandchildren, Eva Broussard, Garrett Wilson, Jacob Audette, Trystan Deisler; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Anthony Fontenot officiating. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation is Wednesday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home ~ Iowa, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. and will resume Thursday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
