Larry Nevius was born on September 8, 1954, in Camden, New Jersey and passed on January 9, 2026, at the age of 71 in Sulphur, LA. From an early age, Larry developed a love for adventure, the outdoors, and living life fully—traits that would define him throughout his life.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting on April 12, 1972. He served four years as an Ammo Technician, earning the rank of Corporal. A Marine through and through, Larry carried the discipline, loyalty, and grit of the Corps with him long after his service ended. His time in the Marines was a point of deep pride and shaped the man he became.
Following his military service, Larry dedicated 11 years to law enforcement in Oklahoma, serving his community with integrity, courage, and a strong sense of duty. His commitment to protecting others reflected the same values he learned in the Marines—service, honor, and accountability.
After his law enforcement career, Larry built a strong and steady professional path, eventually transferring with Conoco and moving to Louisiana in 1993. He later retired from Phillips 66, where his work ethic, dependability, and quiet leadership were well known and respected.
At the core of Larry’s life was his faith. His relationship with God guided his decisions, shaped his character, and grounded him through every season of life. His pursuit to know God was evident in how he lived, how he loved, and how he treated others—with humility, integrity, and purpose.
Larry married the love of his life, Teri, on September 12, 1992. Together, they built a full and meaningful life centered on love, commitment, and family. Raising six children—who gave them a true run for their money and no shortage of stories—was one of their greatest adventures. From those six children, Larry and Teri were blessed with 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Larry adored his family and took immense pride in each generation, finding his greatest joy in watching them grow and thrive.
Larry lived life with enthusiasm and curiosity. His hobbies reflected his bold spirit and love of freedom—fishing, hunting, golfing, riding motorcycles, shooting guns, traveling, and road trips. He enjoyed the thrill of skydiving and scuba diving, both of which he earned certifications for, and he even pursued flying, obtaining his pilot’s license. He loved crawfish boils, softball, and any opportunity to gather with friends and family.
Larry also had a deep love for playing the guitar, often finding peace and joy in music. Some of his proudest moments were sharing his passion with his grandchildren, passing down not just the skills, but the love of God, music, fishing, reading, sports and the bonds that came from his time spent with his grandchildren.
He spent countless miles on the open road riding motorcycles with his brothers, sharing stories, laughter, and an unbreakable bond forged through loyalty and shared experiences. He also cherished the many quiet hours spent fishing with his closest friends—moments filled with conversation, reflection, and camaraderie.
Larry appreciated the simple pleasures of life just as much as the adventures. A good cigar and a glass of bourbon, enjoyed with those closest to him, were often the setting for meaningful conversations, laughter, and lasting memories.
A proud and lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, Larry never lost his connection to his roots. Win or lose, the Eagles were his team, and cheering them on was a tradition that brought him joy and plenty of spirited debate.
Larry was a man who embraced life head-on—fearless, faithful, loyal, hardworking, and deeply devoted to the people he loved. He loved deeply, served honorably, protected his community, and lived his faith in both word and action.
He will be remembered for his adventurous heart, his Marine pride, his service in law enforcement, his unwavering faith, his devotion to family, his brotherhood on the road, his love of music, and the quiet moments shared with friends over a cigar and bourbon.
