Lavonne Lee Finney

December 8, 1929 — April 7, 2017

Lavonne L. Finney, 87, passed away at 8:20 AM on Friday, April 7, 2017 in a local hospital after a brief illness.

 

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, CSM Charles Finney, US ARMY, retired; two daughters, April Perron (husband Jeff) of Broussard, LA and Cathy Chapman (partner David Brown) of Lake Charles; sister, Sandra Julian of North Webster, IN; brother, Kent Lowman (wife Mary) of Pensacola, FL; brother, William Lowman of Rockford, IL; granddaughter , Dominique Elizabeth Perron; grandson, John Charles Perron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Born December 8, 1929 in Warsaw, IN, Lavonne began her professional life in Chicago as a graphic illustrator for a local newspaper. During her life she enjoyed working as a hairdresser, teacher’s assistant, and real estate agent. Her hobbies included painting, sewing, traveling, reading and fishing. A dedicated Army wife, she and the girls followed Chuck from Indiana to Kentucky, New York, Florida, Alabama, Germany, and finally, Louisiana.                

 

Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in Johnson Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Private burial will follow the next morning at Consolata Cemetery.
