Lawrence Walter Wegener

Lawrence Walter Wegener, 92, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 11, 2017.

Lawrence was born on September 7, 1924 in Lake Charles, LA to Rev. Theodore and Adeline Wegener. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Lawrence served in the United States Army during World War II in the 69th Infantry Division. He loved to fish and do woodworking.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle Jensen Wegener; son, Michael Wegener; parents; sister, Adeline Simon and brother, Ted Wegener.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memories are his 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Mike Clark of Lake Charles, LA, Laura and Jeff Derr of Aiken, SC; 3 sisters, Esther Eyberg of St. Paul, MN, Barbara Hellman of Waupun, WS and Marie Roberts of Lake Charles, LA; 3 brothers, G.J. (Gitch) Wegener of Lake Charles, LA, Albert Wegener of Lake Charles, LA and John Wegener of Zwolle, LA; 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamin and Katherine Clark, Sarah Reynolds, Zachary and Aaron Derr; 2 great grandchildren, Wyatt Reynolds and Bennett Derr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 PM Saturday January 14, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lake Charles, LA with Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Cremation will follow after the service. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
