Laxsa Jean Bourgeois Prejean, 83, died on October 15, 2016 after a lengthy illness.
Born in Church Point, Louisiana on January 11, 1933, Mrs. Prejean graduated from St. Charles Academy in 1951. She was active in the Immaculate Conception and St. Louis High School PTA, as Cub Scouts and Blue Birds Den Mother, Booster Club and was a Sultana in the Order of Alhambra. She will always be remembered as a great seamstress, homemaker extraordinaire, avid sports fan (GB) and a woman of great faith.
She leaves to honor her memory her seven children and their spouses, Melanie (Kevin) Sullivan, John (Kathy) Prejean, Andrea Prejean, Mark (Clare) Prejean, Renée (Cris) Douglas, Rachell Pearson, and Matthew (Kristie) Prejean; fifteen grandchildren, Sean Sullivan, Amanda, Michael, Louis and Thomas Prejean, Robbie (Nicole) and Andrew Austin, Kellie (James) Moss, Byron, Eric (Crystal), Jeff and Greg Prejean, Taylor (Katie) Pearson, and Kasey and Nick Prejean; sixteen great-grandchildren, Micah, Jameson, Duncan, Brennan, Allison, Charlee, Sawyer, Braiden, Harvey and Henry Prejean, Kaia, Asha, and Jonah Austin, Noah Keller, Ian and Emma Moss; sister-in-law Juliette Hudson; five nieces and nephews, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by her loving husband Harvey Loyola Prejean, parents Elvie and Morris Bourgeois, her brother “Jean Luke” Brother Austin Bourgeois, FSC.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Monsignor Charles Dubois will preside. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be today Monday, October 17, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Vigil Service at 6:00 PM, and 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM Tuesday in the funeral home.
