Leanna Manuel, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 03, 2021.
Born March 09, 1921 in Iowa, Louisiana, Miss Manuel was one of ten children and lived most of her life in Lake Charles graduating from LaGrange High School. She was a bookkeeper at Miller’s House of Sports for 20 years. She also worked as a waitress or hostess into her early 80’s at various local restaurants, including the Red Fox Inn. Miss Manuel delighted in socializing with her restaurant patrons and her charm welcomed her guests for delightful evenings. Miss Manuel was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
She was often call “Jitter” or “Jitterbug” because she so loved to dance the jitterbug in her younger years.
She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Leona Manuel, and all her siblings, Carrie Prescott of Lake Charles, Rose Long Draper of Dallas, Hazel “Hazzie” Manuel of Lake Charles, Curl “Dick” Manuel of Orange, TX, Dominique Manuel of Lake Charles, Abram “Bum” Manuel of Doyline, LA, Maurice Manuel, James “Jimmie” Manuel of Lake Charles and Henry “Hank” Manuel of Deerpark, TX.
Those left to cherish her memory are loving nieces and nephews, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews.
Private entombment services will be Monday, June 7, 2021 at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor James Gaddy and Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate.
