Lee Ray Bourgeois was born August 26, 1934 in Lawtell, LA to Armand and Gertie Bourgeois. Following World War II, his family relocated to Lake Charles and he attended Landry Memorial High School, where he lettered in basketball and football.
He was a proud and dutiful father to his six children, he was employed with Davidson Chemical, Gulf Coast Aluminum, and later Superior Supply for Steve Mitchell until his retirement in 1999.
He was a simple Cajun man who enjoyed time with his family, celebrating every birthday or anniversary, and playing the role of Santa for every family Christmas Celebration. An avid football fan, he stayed busy during the season rooting for his beloved McNeese Cowboys, LSU Tigers, and Atlanta Falcons. He always enjoyed a good time, whether it was playing cards at the VFW on Wednesdays, enjoying a good time with his gang at The Spot, or playing 18 holes of golf at Bayou Oaks Country Club and Mallard Cove, always ending at the 19th hole.
He was welcomed into Heaven at the age of 86 on Saturday, July 17,2021 by his Creator, along with his parents, and the mother to his children, Joan Bourgeois.
Those left to cherish his memory; his children, Blane Bourgeois, Tim Bourgeois, Clint (Tina) Bourgeois, Mark Bourgeois, Beth (Woody) Arnold, Lori (Todd) Stelly; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and his sister, Bernice Ann (Carl) Broussard; his wife of twenty years, Gastria “Ginger” Bourgeois and her children, Guy Fox, Mark Fox, Karen Fox Cole.
