Lela Merle Briley

Lela Merle Briley passed away on November 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Merle was the owner and operator of Country Club Kennel for over forty years.  Her love of animals also let her get to show dogs all over the country. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and numerous other dog clubs. “Doodle Bug”, as she was affectionately known, loved to read her Bible and to cook for others.

Mrs. Briley leaves her daughter, Melissa Gonzalez (Julio); her two daughters-in-love, Beth Gentry (Eddy) and her boys, and Janet Briley; four grandchildren, Alex and Brandon Granger, German Gonzalez, and Rebecca Briley; and three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Everella Lyman; and her husband of thirty two years, John W. Briley Sr.

A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 9:00AM. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park. Services will be officiated by Rev. Brian Fitkin. Visitation will be held at the funeral home at 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Monday, November 7 and will continue on Tuesday at 8:00AM until time of the service.
