On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, surrounded by family, Lenes “Nick” J. Arsement of Iowa, went to be with the Lord.
Nick was born in Rayne, Louisiana on September 20, 1931, son of the late Volcar and Rosalie (Richard) Arsement. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was employed as a carpenter for Local 953.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leroy Arsement, and Raymond Arsement; sisters, Nelva Thibodeaux, Selma Brown, and Mildred Lee; son-in-law, Richard Dartez, and infant daughter, Rosalie Marie Arsement.
Survivors are his wife of almost 74 years, Joyce Babineaux Arsement; children, Leonard Arsement and wife, Linda, Barbara Stonicher and husband, Mark, Pamela Dartez, Lawrence Arsement and wife, Linda Ruth, Ronald G. Arsement and wife, Mamie, and Donna Lasha and husband, Butch; sister, Mae Joyce Strahan; sister-in-law, Karen Arsement. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Raphael Catholic Church on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 10 a.m. Rev. Anthony Fontenot, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin Thursday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. and will resume Friday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
