Leo Perry Slaughter, born in Pineville on March 4, 1940, son of the late Earl and Nettie (Gauthier) Slaughter, passed away in Lake Charles on September 10, 2024, at age eighty-four.
A graduate of Harrisonburg High School, Leo attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Oklahoma. He was an avid student of the word of God, a World War II history buff.
Leo and his wife, Edna Gail were church planters, having established churches in Iola, Kansas, and Guymon, Oklahoma. Upon moving to Lake Charles, Leo became involved in Livingway Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed being outdoors making sure his home and yard stayed in tip top shape.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Jonathan Earl Slaughter, and an infant brother and sister.
Survivors are his loving, and devoted wife of fifty-eight years, Edna Gail Slaughter; children, Jeffrey Paul Slaughter and wife, Karla, and Lorita Lynette Slaughter; granddaughter, Kayla Michelle Slaughter; siblings, Everette Slaughter and wife, Mary, and Kathy Wood.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. in Livingway Church on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. with Pastor Brent Keating officiating. Burial will be Monday, September 16, 2024 at 1 p.m. in Harrisonburg Cemetery in Harrisonburg, Louisiana under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
