Leroy was a 1962 graduate of LaGrange High School. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for forty years, retiring in 2006 because of health problems. He was a member of the United Transportation Union local #1947.
He is survived by his spouse of fifty-three years, Madeline Walker Arsement; son, Ganey Arsement and wife Heather; daughter, Cheri Arsement Babineaux and husband Dennis; son, Daryl Arsement; eleven grandchildren, Savannah Eldridge, Olivia Babineaux, Daltin Babineaux, Ethan Arsement, Xander Arsement, Rayne Arsement, Alexis Durio Aucoin and husband Matthew, Ashlyn Wesley, Hunter Wesley, Brooklyn Martin, and Jagger Fruge; two great-grandchildren, Garin LaBiche and Addie Benny; sisters, Judy Evans, Brenda Schexnider and Mike, and Debbie Hoover and Tommy; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Leroy was a religious and prayerful family man, raising his children to believe in God and always remain faithful to him.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Leroy J. Arsement, Sr. and Bertha Doucet Arsement; grandparents, Ella Matt Doucet and Andrew Doucet and Rosalie Richard Arsement and June Arsement; brother, Leonard John Arsement; and brother-in-law, Tommy Evans.
Leroy was an avid listener to Cajun and Country music and also to K-Love.
His funeral service will be 5:00 PM on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. A private burial at Consolata Cemetery will be held at a later date. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM.
