Leroy Leger

Iowa – LeRoy Leger, 76, born May 14, 1941 in Niblett’s Bluff, to the late Loranzy and Agnes Daigle Leger of Iowa, passed away September 17, 2017 in a local hospital.

LeRoy was a graduate of Iowa High, attended McNeese State and Texas Tech and worked in the oil field in chemical sales. He served in the U. S. Marines from 1959 thru 1963. He worked with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office as a volunteer. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. LeRoy enjoyed Cajun French music, woodworking and hunting.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Jerrie Abshire (Troy) of Grand Lake, LA, Phillip Leger (Laura) of Chicago, IL, Beth Jackson of North Lake, TX, Chad Leger of LeBleu Settlement; mother of his children, Mary D. Leger of Lake Charles; siblings, Barbara Leger of Bell City, Joyce Higginbotham of China, TX, Daniel Ray Laget of California, Cynthia Leger of Iowa, Larry Leger (Julie) of Canada and Terrie Jennings of Crosby, TX; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Joseph “Joey” Leger and Randall “Randy” Leger; daughter-in-law, Isabel Leger; siblings, Ronnie and Ruby Leger.

A Mass of Christian burial is Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation is Tuesday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home ~ Iowa from 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. and will resume Wednesday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
