Leroy M. "Butch" Spellman

Leroy M. Spellman, Sr., 72, of Starks, LA passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Spellman was a native of Youngstown, OH and lived most of his life in the Ellsworth, and Salem area.  Following his retirement in 2005, he moved to Starks, LA. where he was near his family.  He worked 35 years for Canfield Metal Coating as a Paint Line and Forklift Operator.  During his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, campfires and bonfires.  His later years, he enjoyed playing pool, horseshoes, gardening, cooking, and grilling.  His downtime was spent watching his beloved Cleveland Browns, Gourmet cooking shows, and FOX political news.  Mr. Spellman’s greatest love was his family.  He will be remembered for the countless pets he allowed in his home throughout the years. The vacations he took pride in taking his family on, and his 25th anniversary celebration in a hot air balloon.  Mr. Spellman was an admirable man who dedicated his life and his love to providing for, and protecting his family.

He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of fifty years, Donna Clingerman Spellman of Starks; three children, Leroy M. Spellman, Jr. (Bonnie), Tammy S. Haynes (James) and Stephanie L. Spellman, all of Starks; six grandchildren, Dezi Cruz, II, Demarqus Simien, Makleigh Simien, Bailey Perkins, Rachel Perkins and Olivia Perkins, one great-grandchild, Adeline Moskal; one brother, Frank D. Spellman, Jr.; one sister, Darlene K. Spellman and his family in Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank D. Spellman, Sr. and Marion Hough Spellman and one sister.

In respect of Mr. Spellman’s wishes, the family will have a private memorial celebration.
