Lester Joseph LeBleu, 79, passed away on November 12, 2025 in Lake Charles, LA. He was born on February 21, 1946 in Lake Charles, LA to Ervin and Orena Saucier LeBleu.
Lester grew up in South Lake Charles near Black Bayou, where his deep love for the outdoors first began. In the 9th grade, he made the selfless decision to leave school in order to help provide for his mother and his father, who was a decorated and disabled WWII veteran. That sense of responsibility and devotion to family would become a defining part of who he was.
In 1965, Lester married his fishing partner and the love of his life, Janie Loftin LeBleu. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their family with love, laughter, and resilience. During those early years, he enrolled in technical school and explored several trades before finding his calling as a Millwright. He went on to serve nearly 40 years at the Reynolds Aluminum/ALCOA plant, where he also served on the negotiations union board, an advocate for his coworkers and a respected voice among his peers.
A true outdoorsman, Lester found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time with his boys and their friends in in the woods and on the water. He also had a passion for hot rods and was known as an excellent mechanic who could fix just about anything with an engine. A gifted storyteller, he loved sharing tales of the people and places of Southwest Louisiana. Those who knew him cherished his humor, his wisdom, and the way he brought Cajun culture and history to life.
Lester had many close friends whom he loved like family, and he was immensely proud of his Cajun heritage and of the community he called home. He was a hardworking, strong, and dedicated man whose loyalty ran deep and whose presence made life richer for all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him dearly.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Allen Chad LeBleu, Gregory Alan LeBleu, Brenda LeBleu Anderson (Peter); 10 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren; and his brother, Ervin LeBleu, Jr. (Lorraine).
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Janie Loftin LeBleu; his brother, Robert Lee LeBleu.
A Memorial Service honoring his life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, 4321 Lake Street. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the start of the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Lester will be laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery at a later date.
