Ms. Libby passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the age of 100. She was born January 3, 1923 to Delma and Cora (Moore) O’Blanc in Hayes.
She is survived by her son, Walter J. Vincent and wife, Diane of San Antonio, Texas; daughter-in-law, Margaret Vincent of Kinder; grandchildren, Sharie Fruge and husband Doug of Kinder; Yolande Parker and husband Larry of Topsy; Melissa Anderson and husband Eric of Twenty Nine Palms, CA; Heather Guerin and husband Noel of Sequin, Texas; Tressie Vincent and husband Jared LaFleur of Kinder; Kristen Fox and husband Brian Butler of Floresville, Texas; Erika Barber and wife Elizabeth of Austin, Texas, and grandson-in-law Craig Ortego of Austin, Texas; step-grandchildren, Bobby, Katherine , Darryl, Barbara, Debra, Randy; great-grandchildren, Kristal, Kayla, Ashlyn, Blake, Chynna, Karaline, Lyndsey, Hayden, Shelby, Meghan, Lauren, Barry, Sarah, Louis, Elijah (Mercedez), Asiah, Conrad; great-great-grandchildren, Abby, Aubrey, Brooks, Emma, Quinn, Jayden, Gauge, Bryleigh, Chase, Ellianna, and Hudson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Wylace Vincent, Sr. and Lloyd Marceaux; son, Wylace Vincent, Jr.; three sisters, Emile Young, Ivy Aucoin, and Loriana Ryder; three brothers, Elzie O’Blanc, Aldes O’Blanc, and Russell O’Blanc; stepdaughter, Ruby V. Richey; step-grandson, Phillip Richey, grandson-in-law, David Karam and two great-grandchildren, Kaileigh and Jayson Parker.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Ms. Libby was a very devoted Catholic, catechism teacher during the early 50’s, who would get up early each morning to say her rosary and read her prayers before attending daily mass. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters #1377 and the weekly Peace Rosary Group. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 7586 of the Iowa Veterans of Foreign War, where she served as the Chaplain.
Ms. Libby worked at Micelle’s Packing House Sausage Kitchen and at K-Mart and retired after 17 years of service. She was a very generous person and enjoyed doing for others. She loved visiting the Veterans Home, Singles Club, and traveling to various places in the U.S., Canada and overseas.
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. Raphael Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. Rev. Anthony Fontenot, Celebrant. Burial will follow Gueydan Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin Monday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m., and resume Tuesday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
