Lidian Fae Theriot Richard returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, after living a full and happy life.
Mrs. Richard was born on January 23, 1946, in Grand Chenier, Louisiana to Charlie and Macilda Theriot. Mrs. Richard was a proud 1964 graduate of South Cameron High School. She was a life-long and proud member of St. Eugene Catholic Church where she served as Treasurer of the Ladies' Altar Society for more than thirty years. She also served on the committee for the Church Parish's annual Alligator Festival. Mrs. Richard was a passionate, loving, devout woman. She enjoyed cooking and hosting delicious meals for her family and friends, reading a good book, traveling with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, spending time with her Pokeno groups that spanned thirty years, playing a game of Bourree', Canasta, or Setback (and winning!), passionately supporting the LSU Tigers, McNeese Cowboys, South Cameron Tarpons, Houston Astros, and Dallas Cowboys, sitting in front of a slot machine, shopping, getting her hair and nails done, and cheering on her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids at their livestock shows, athletic events, and school functions. She will be most known for being "Gran" and all that it entailed.
Mrs. Richard is survived by her husband of 61 years Lester "Ferpo" Richard, Jr.; her three children: Allyson and husband Kim Bourriaque of Creole, Dana and husband Mitchell Baccigalopi of Creole, and Darren and wife Judge Penelope Richard of Creole; six grandchildren, Representative Ryan (Megan) Bourriaque, Brett Baccigalopi, Kimily Bourriaque, Devon (Stephen) Melville, Brilee (Caleb) Little, and Brayden Richard (Andi); great grandchildren Sofia Melville, Ava Melville (Blaise), Libby Baccigalopi, Rylee Bourriaque, Remi Bourriaque, Rhett Baccigalopi, Nova Jo Melville, Bellamy Doxey, Rorie Bourriaque, Saylor Little, Wilder Melville, and Nash Little; one sister, Mae Ann ( Carl "Mickey" ) Hebert of Lake Charles; brother-in-laws, Roger (Molly) Richard, Bryon "Goose" (Carla) Richard, S. J. Johnson, Terry "Hippy" Richard; sister-in-laws, Allie Mae Theriot and Carolyn Richard; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
She was affectionately cared for by her loyal and special friends Shirley Bonsall, Charlotte Trosclair, and Mary "Tingie" Picou as well as her sister, Mae Ann Hebert, and hairdresser Kaley Hebert. A note of grateful thankfulness is extended to the kind and compassionate nurses at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital including Bill, John, Logan, and Carson and the grateful staff of UT Health including Dr. Rodeo Abrencillo and Esther and Memorial Hermann Oncologist staff of Dr. Iman Doostan.
Mrs. Richard was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Macilda Theriot; one brother, Francis Melvin Theriot; daughter, Jennifer Lurlie Richard; brother-in-law Barry Richard; and sisters-in-laws Jacqueline "Jackie" Richard Johnson and Karen Beth "Cookie" Richard.
