Lillie Mae Fruge

Lillie Mae Fruge, 90, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully after a short illness on March 7th, 2026 at Landmark Nursing Home of Lake Charles. She was born on February 9th, 1936 in Duralde to parents Hortence Blanchard Granger and Willis Granger.

Lillie and her husband, LD, made Lake Charles their home beginning in 1958. She was a devoted Catholic and a loving mother and grandmother.

Her favorite time of year was Thanksgiving. She loved seeing all her grandchildren from all over the country celebrating together over a mix of Cajun foods and turkey.

She loved going to Mamou on Saturday mornings to Fred's Lounge to dance and listen to her favorite Cajun music.

Lillie is survived by her husband of 74 years, LD Fruge; daughter Wanda Fruge Dartez and son-in-law Mike Dartez; daughter Donna Lynn Fruge; son Marc Wade Fruge and daughter-in-law KellyAnn Fruge; her 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hortence Blanchard Granger; father, Willis Granger; brother, Elray Granger; and son, David James Fruge.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. She will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.
