Linda Faye Stewart Breaux, 77, of Lake Charles passed away at 3:45 PM on Sunday, January 11, 2026 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Breaux was born on April 21, 1948, in Jennings, Louisiana. She was a proud graduate of Jennings High School, Class of 1966. Following high school, she attended the University of Southwest Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) as an undergraduate before moving to Lake Charles to continue her education at McNeese State University. There, she earned both her master’s degree and specialist degree, accomplishments that reflected her lifelong dedication to learning and education.
She devoted 33 years of her life to teaching with the Calcasieu Parish School Board. Throughout her distinguished career, she touched countless lives while teaching at Combre-Fondel Elementary School, A.A. Nelson Elementary School, and F.K. White Middle School.
A woman of strong faith, she was a devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Her service to the Church was extensive and heartfelt—she was an active member of the Catholic Daughters, Lay Carmelites, and the Altar Society, served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister, and could often be found praying in the Adoration Chapel. Mrs. Breaux was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
She greatly enjoyed traveling with her family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. She also valued the friendships she formed throughout her career, especially with her colleagues from A.A. Nelson Elementary School, who shared in a beloved weekly Pokeno tradition that lasted for more than 25 years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of nearly 51 years, Dan Breaux; her children, Adrienne Breaux Mayo (Lamar) and Trina Breaux; son-in-law, Jaime Gutierrez; sister, Marilyn Lemaire (Ronnie); and beloved grandchildren, Naomi and Clara Gutierrez, and Isabella, Victoria, and Alexander Mayo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alita Stewart and sisters, Carolyn Dupuis and Paula Dyke.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until leaving for the church at 11:00 AM.
