Linda Louise Mueller Degroot, 65, of Kinder passed away at 7:54 PM on Friday, May 5, 2017 in a local hospital.
Linda was born on October 29, 1951 in Harvey, ND. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School in North Dakota and furthered her education at North Dakota State University, receiving a degree in nursing in 1976. During her four decade career she worked at several hospitals in the United States, most recently at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND and finishing her career at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She was of the Lutheran faith.
She enjoyed life to the fullest and had an infectious smile. Linda enjoyed spending time gardening, painting, collecting antiques, landscape designing, reading, traveling, cooking, canning, and playing pool. She was the founder of the Iowa City Women’s 8 Ball League. In her free time she would make occasional trips to the casinos. Linda had a heart for animals and loved her rescue dogs, Kera, Bella, and Peaches and also her lovebird, Gilligan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband and companion, Carl Semmes of Kinder; her mother, Gloria Mueller of Jamestown, ND; son, Sam Degroot (Jen) of Jamestown, ND; grandsons, Kaden and Derek Degroot; and five siblings, Niles Mueller (Mayda) of Jamestown, ND, Cindy Tyley (Bruce) of LaGrange, IL and their son, Nathan, Bryan Mueller (Deb) of Keokuk, IA and their children, Matt, Aimie, and Emily, JoAnn Nehls (Mike) of Groton, SD and their children, Ben, April Jo, and Jordan, and Kelli Waddingham (Rex) of New Salem, ND. She also leaves behind her in laws, Paul and Estelle Semmes of Jennings, Greg and Julie Lessigne of Toledo Bend, Marty Semmes of Crowley, Danny and Lisa Semmes of Jennings, Ronnie and Vicky Semmes of Minden, Eddy and Sherry LeBlanc of Jennings, Joe and Sue Semmes of Jennings, John and Linda Semmes of Hope Mills, NC, and Ben and Estelle Monic of Evangeline.
She was preceded in death by her father, Peter H. Mueller.
Per Linda’s wishes, Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
