Linda Faye (Landry) Woolford, a servant of God, born September 4, 1948, was called Home to Heaven on February 22, 2026. A native of Gueydan, she had been a resident of Sulphur since 1959. She graduated from Sulphur High School and attended college at McNeese State University. After being the first woman hired in a male-dominated field, she retired from Cit-Con and was a lifetime member of OCAW Local where she had served as an officer. With love for her church, she served in Vacation Bible School, worked nursery, served the youth, was on Counting Committee, was a leader in Kids Beach Club, and started the Homebound Ministry and was Senior Adult Director at Houston River Baptist Church. She volunteered as a tutor for the Literacy Council for years and participated in the Senior Olympic Games. After being certified as a PACE Instructor, she volunteered in chair and aquatic instructions for the older generation. She brought joy to many people’s lives while doing her Cajun Humorist Programs for non-profit organizations. With great love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she volunteered for many years at their school functions and accompanied many field trips throughout the years and also participated in the SAGE Program at McNeese State University. She loved to play card games anytime, anywhere, with anybody. Being very proud of her Cajun Heritage, she served for a time on the CODOFIL Board. An amateur genealogist, she published a book on her "Landry" Family Lineage. She was a member of the Twelfth Night Revelers and served as a Krewe Representative, Strut Captain, and Sioux City Coordinator. She also served as Duchess on two different courts with other Krewes. An avid traveler, she visited all 50 states and over 40 countries and islands on five continents, and she passed on that love of travel to her family. Her lifelong legacy is her love of God, love for her children and grandchildren, and she leaves her abundant memories of life and adventures to them. Linda was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband James Edwin Woolford, her father, Venice Mark Landry, her mother, Bernice Teal Landry, and siblings, Natalie Higginbotham, Charles Landry, L.J. Landry, Norman Landry, Billy Landry, Allen Landry, Vince Landry, Doris Franklin, and Viola LeJeune. Still living are her sister, Earline Covington, and brother, Larry Landry. She is survived by four daughters, Melinda B. Woolford, Florence Faye Hoyt (Dale), Kristi A. Leger (Barry), Lori L. Guillory (Joey), and two sons, Arnold K. Ellender, and James A. Woolford (Meloney). Her grandchildren are Crystal Sonnier, Justin Tevis, Miranda Ellender, Kayla Higginbotham, Katie Gripp (Hunter), Ashley Fontenot, Derek Smith (Micah), Courtney Leger, Cortlan Guillory (Catalina), Logan Guillory (Tori), Sheldon and Carson Guillory, Isabella Prather (Dylan), Chris Woolford (Sarah), Madeline, Melvin, and Dakota Fowler, Amber Holley, Matilda Miller (Slade). Her great grandchildren are, Samantha and Ethan Miller, Zoey Neves (Joshua), Karleigh, Parker, Jaxon, and Jake Higginbothem, Makenna and Luke Gripp, Connor Tunnell, Ava Sophie Tevis, Kylee, Morgan, and Haylee Schexeider, Lalynn, Hayven, Kayden, and Noah Smith, Alayna, Ainsley, Avery, Annie, Asher, Colton, Landon, and Greyson Guillory, Gracelynn and Beckett Woolford. Funeral services for Linda will be held at Houston River Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 1 PM, with Rev. Lonnie Gothrup officiating. The family will receive guests from 10 until time for the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be at Mimosa Pines Cemetery -South directly following the service.
