Lloyd Leslie “LL” Calcote, Jr., 79, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully at 3:25 PM on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Harbor Hospice.
LL was born on August 1, 1946, to Lloyd Leslie Sr. and Anna Mae (Stevenson) Calcote in Little Rock, AR. He grew up in El Dorado, AR, and graduated from Louisiana Tech with a BS in Engineering in 1968. After graduating, he moved to Lake Charles with his wife where he began his forty-four year long career at PPG Industries. He furthered his education at McNeese State University where he graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration in 1972.
LL married his high school sweetheart, Karen “Kay” McDade, on August 25, 1967, and over the years their family grew to include three children, eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he taught a 4-year-old Sunday School class with his wife for many years.
A devoted family man, LL loved going out to eat with his wife and taking summer family vacations to nearby parks such as Astroworld and Schlitterbahn with his children and grandchildren. He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting in Arkansas and west Texas.
LL was an active member of the Lake Charles Racquet Club, where he spent countless hours playing tennis, visiting with his friends, and enjoying summer swim nights with his family. A highlight of his tennis career came in 2012, when he and his team “Let It Be” won the USTA 3.0 Seniors National Championship in Palm Springs, California.
LL will be deeply missed and always held in our hearts.
Among those who will cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Kay; daughters Susan White (Daren White), Laura Guillory (Brad Guillory), and Elise Brocato; grandchildren Kelli, Amanda, Emily, Brendan, Brit, Bryson, Blair Ann, Natalie, Erica, Allison, and Stephanie; great-grandchildren Behrend, Effie, Foster, Poppy, Calla, and Oscar; and siblings Sandra Golleher (Jimmy Golleher) and Victor Calcote (Skeeter Calcote).
