Lonnie Glenn Harper

Lonnie Glenn Harper passed away peacefully at his home in League City, Texas, on August 8, 2026. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, a man of deep faith, and a respected member of the communities he called home.

Lonnie shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Carolyn Harper, who preceded him in death on July 30, 2022. Together, Lonnie and Carolyn built a home in Grand Chenier, Louisiana, where they raised their three children: Daniel Ned Harper, Leonard Paul Harper, and Jennifer Harper Smolcich. Their home was more than simply a place to live—it was the heart of their family, filled with love, hard work, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

At the center of Lonnie’s life was his devotion to others, especially his family. He always placed the needs of his wife, his children and their spouses—Danny and Michele, Leonard and Shannon, and Jennifer and Scott—his grandchildren, Madison, Logan, Wyatt, Hudson, Carlie, Cole, and Katherine, and his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Oliver, and Hayes, above his own.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo Pierce Harper and June Crain Harper, and by his beloved wife, Carolyn. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; his brother, Michael; and his nephew, Aaron, and Aaron’s family.

Lonnie believed deeply in hard work, faith, and service to his community. With Carolyn’s support and partnership, he established a civil engineering and land surveying company. The business began in Grand Chenier and was later relocated to Grand Lake, Louisiana, following hurricane damage. Through his work, Lonnie made lasting contributions to the communities he served.

His faith was an important part of his life. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Grand Chenier and was devoted to both his church and his community. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cameron, reflecting his commitment to fellowship, service, and helping others.

Outside of his work and community involvement, Lonnie appreciated life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed assembling model airplanes, spending time at Toledo Bend, and being surrounded by the people he loved. He especially cherished time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories they will carry forward for generations.

Lonnie leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by his accomplishments alone, but by the lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply. He taught his children the importance of hard work, commitment, faith, and family. His example and his love will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

After more than four years apart, his family finds comfort in imagining Lonnie and Carolyn together again—reunited and side by side, as they were for so many years. The beautiful life they built together continues through their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and their love will forever remain a part of each of them.

Lonnie will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
