It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lonnie Dale O'Quinn. He was a devoted family man, loyal friend, and passionate outdoorsman. He will be remembered most for the love he gave so freely to his family, the laughter he shared with friends, and the joy he found on the softball field and in the woods.
He was a man who never met a stranger and whose presence could light up any gathering. Whether he was coaching from the dugout, swinging a bat on the softball field, or spending quiet mornings hunting at sunrise, he lived life with heart, determination, and gratitude. Softball was more than a game to him - it was a way to build friendships, create memories, and enjoy the simple moments he treasured most. Hunting brought him peace and a deep appreciation for nature and tradition.
Above all else, his greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who always put others before himself. His family will remember his strength, humor, wisdom, and unwavering support through every season of life.
He leaves behind countless memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, loyalty, and kindness will never be forgotten.
Lonnie is survived by his loving wife, Elodie O'Quinn, and their daughters, Allison O'Quinn and Lindsey Miller (Nicholas), his two cherished grandchildren, Nathan Overmyer and Kanon Primeaux. He is also survived by his brothers, Neal, Bryan (Laurie), Danny (and Tanya), and his sisters, Evelyn O'Quinn and Debra Velasco (Wayne). He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and honor the many memories shared together, on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa beginning at 4:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM. May he rest peacefully, forever remembered and forever loved.
On Friday the family will have a gathering at his home for all friends and family from 10:00 AM until.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Nardy O'Quinn, and Alice LeBato, his sister, Donna O'Quinn Gire, and his stepfather, Mike Finn.
