Lorene Yvonne Herr

Lorene Yvonne Jett Herr, 84, of Lake Charles passed away at 5:57 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at her daughter’s residence in Moss Bluff.

Mrs. Herr was born on December 1, 1932 in Florien, LA and lived in Lake Charles most of her life.  She has been a member of Sale Street Baptist Church for the past 50 years and worked at the daycare there for many years.  She loved working with children as well as spending time with her family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Cindy Dewees (Dave), DeeDee Crow (Mark), Janet Hoffpauir, Nancy Johnice (Merlin), and Katie Wing (Mike); daughter-in-law, Angie Herr; and a sister, Marvadine Gilman all of Lake Charles.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Justin (Sara), Kelley (Mandy), and Cameron (Meagan) Crow, Vincent Wing (Brandi), Chelsey Bertrand (Justin), Amanda Lehn, and Blaire and Baylee Herr; great grandchildren, Aaden, Emma, Jaxson, Caroline, Julia, and Reagan Crow, Beckett and Jett Bertrand, and Kady and Kary Blomquist; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Herr, Sr.; parents, Alfred and Vallie Jett; son, John Herr, Jr.; granddaughter, Brooke Herr; son-in-law, Carl Hoffpauir; and sisters, Irene Vollmer, Marjorie O’Hara, Billie Demeritt, and Shirley Roberts.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 16, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  The Rev. Randy Edwards will officiate.  Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will begin on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Monday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
