Louis Russell Ames

Louis Russell Ames, of Kerrville, TX, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025. He was born in Lake Charles, LA to Larry and Bettye Ames on February 11th, 1954. 

He graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1976 with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and Design. He worked as a General Contractor most of his working life, working commercial and residential projects. He drafted up building plans and followed them to completion. He was elected as 1st reader of his church for a term. He taught at Northside Alternative High School as a shop teacher. He was an original member of The South Texas Oldsmobile Club, a local chapter of the National Oldsmobile Club of America. He enjoyed playing in a softball club in Kerrville as well as pick-up basketball games when he could. He was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. 

Louis was preceded in death by his father, Larry Ames. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol Isgitt Ames; his mother, Bettye Ames; his brothers, Larry Ames Jr. and Gordon Ames; his 3 sons, Garrett, Garner, and Jordan Ames and their wives; as well as his 10 grandchildren. Louis had many friends from many walks of life. 

A gathering of friends and family to will be 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur, LA. Burial will be held at Rigmaiden Cemetery in DeQuincy, LA.
