Louis "Cotton" Whittington

Louis W. “Cotton” Whittington, 87, of Lake Charles, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at his residence. Cotton was born February 16, 1937, in Urania, LA. to Sam and Laura Whittington.
Cotton was a brick mason for well over 50 years. Examples of his great work can be seen all over Lake Charles, if you know where to look.

He taught baseball and softball to generations of kids in North Louisiana. He loved hunting with his beagles in North Louisiana and fishing with his Buds (both friends and Weisers) in South Louisiana when he wasn’t farming his five-acre spread in Gillis.

He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, and he was not hesitant to discuss same to all those he came across.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife; Melba “Tillie” Loe Whittington, daughter; Cammie Olney (David), Son; Kirk Whittington (Julie), Grandchildren; Jett Olney, Luke Whittington, Aspen Whittington, Sister; Dorothy “Dottie” Smith, Brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Arnold and Shirley Loe, nephew; Kevin Smith.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, April 12, 2024, from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 1:00PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 451 LA-151N. Calhoun, LA. 71225
