Louise Tate
Odelia Louise Gary Tate, 81, of Lake Charles went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday May 27, 2021.
Mrs. Tate was a native of Westlake and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She loved people, having worked many years in in grocery retail throughout the Lake area and in her later years she worked caring for elderly. She enjoyed drinking coffee on her back porch with neighbors, friends and family. Mrs. Tate found great joy in cooking Sunday dinners for her family and their friends, spoiling her grandchildren and treasured the time she shared with her great-grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan and diehard LSU baseball and New Orleans Saints football. Mrs. Tate She will be most remembered as a simple, hard working woman, a “generous, strong, one of a kind, original with a kind heart and salt and vinegar sass”.
Mrs. Tate had a genuine, unique love of family and will be greatly missed. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty-nine years, Calvin John Tate of Lake Charles; daughter, Lisa Tate Guidry of Lake Charles; son, Brett James Tate of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Jillian Nichole Guidry of Shreveport, Noelle Marie Mills of Lake Charles, Erin Elizabeth Guidry of Lafayette, Taylor Lane Hartley of Lake Charles and Trenton Gage Tate of Lake Charles; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Alfred Perry and wife Faye of Alvin, TX; two sisters, Priscilla Perkins of Oakdale and Pricilla Mallet of Lake Charles and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Leah Kay Tate; granddaughter, Courtney Caples; parents, Ernest Gary and Attie Saucier Saucier; birth parents, Lee and Zelia Manuel Perry; four brothers, Denny Perry, JB Perry, Richard Saucier and infant Perry and two sisters, Jean Perry Briscoe and Joann Perry Gill.
A service of Memorial Tributes will begin at 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the East Entrance Student Center of Sale Street Baptist Church. A rosary will begin at 4:30 PM with memorial gatherings of family and friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and tributes to follow in the student center. Tributes will be led by Mrs. Tate’s brother and grandson-in-law; Reverend Alfred Perry and Drew Mills.
