Lucille Nichols Ellender, born in Kinder on July 23, 1935, daughter of the late Daniel W. and Sina Hamilton Nichols, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025, at the age of eighty-nine.
A graduate of Kinder High School, Lucille also graduated from McNeese State University with a degree in Nursing. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and enjoyed quilting and attending family reunions.
She is preceded in death by her parents; spouse, William “Billy” Ellender; siblings, Wallace Nichols, Emmadean Nichols Lambert, Margie Nell Nichols Turner, Winston Nichols, Warren Nichols and Harold Nichols.
Lucille is survived by her children, Kathy LeBlanc (Keith), Nancy Ellender, and Michael Ellender; siblings, Wayne Nichols (Missy), John “Weggie” Nichols (Geneva), and Issac Nichols (Betty); one grandson, Dalton Bailey, and one great-granddaughter, Lily Bailey.
Times of remembrance will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Lyles Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
